Not all our friends were "soldiers"!

Just found your site on the web and hey,
it's amazing. I am a Berliner who was hanging around in
Bischofsgruen from '81 till today. In the earlier days I was driving
to Bisch regularly with my band the Mountaineers for
the party.
There are several vets I can remember
who became good friends but are out of sight now. and I haven't
found them on your site.
One is James D. Mcintosh, who was
originally from Florence, Alabama and stationed on the hill around
83-84 or something. He married a girl named Angelika and moved back
to the states.
Here's a picture of us and him (on the
right, me in the middle, left: our singer Matty Reif), in his
apartment in Birnstengel:
Another one was a black guy named
Gregory Hughes. A guy named Steve (last name is gone),
he wore a cowboy hat all day and had his apartment at the
Hauptstrasse right over that crystal shop. One guy, I forgot the name totally,
because
we called him Jerry Lewis, since he just looked like him. big, round
glasses, lived in Birnstengel. I have a photo.
I can send some more photos if you like
to. need to get them scanned. Since my wife is originally from Bischofsgruen,
I am there from time to time. I see Ty Pinney
sometimes.
We never played at Reissmanns. Actually I never saw a live band during the times we were there but we did a lot of acoustic sets in almost every gasthaus from Pilsbrunnen to Stress-Wirt, since we always had guitars in the trunk.
Thanx again for your great website
Best regards and wishes
Andy Foerster
